Santeliz is responsible for growing the bank's seniors housing business, a strategic focus and key growth component for Bank Leumi USA throughout the country. Santeliz has 25 years of indus- try experience of which 20 years are exclusively in the seniors housing sector. Before joining Bank Leumi USA, Santeliz was a principal at Brickell Key Group Inc., a Florida-based seniors housing and real estate investment advisory frm. He also served as a vice president at CIT. He earned his MBA from Texas State University and a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. Kandu Capital hires Benjamin Pearce to lead senior living operations Birmingham, Mich. — Kandu Capital LLC and its operating com- pany, Bloom Senior Living, have hired 30-year industry vet- eran, Johns Hopkins University and New York Univer- sity professor and award-winning author Benjamin Pearce to lead senior living operations as chief operating offcer. Over a 30-year career, Pearce has designed, developed, opened and managed over 200 seniors liv- ing communities in 33 states, total- ing nearly $1 billion in revenue. Most recently, Pearce was the vice president of operations (east- ern district) for Holiday Retire- ment where he oversaw operations and marketing for 71 independent and assisted living communities. Prior to Holiday, he was the presi- dent and CEO of a privately held company, Potomac Homes, over- seeing 15 communities dedicated to caring for seniors with Alzehim- er's disease and dementia. Pearce has published six books on operations and marketing of senior living communities, one of which has been converted for use in the certifcation of administra- tors and as a required text at major universities. He also published 27 senior living e-books on Amazon Kindle. Pearce teaches the Business of Senior Housing and Care as an adjunct professor at Johns Hop- kins University's MBA Program, and is a faculty member at New York University's Real Estate Institute. He is a three-time winner of the Contemporary Long Term Care Order of Excellence Award. Ziegler hires specialty healthcare private equity team Chicago — Ziegler, a specialty healthcare investment bank and broker-dealer, has hired Eric Smith, man- aging director; Chris Claps, senior vice president; and Dan Contardi, vice presi- dent. The three com- prise a newly formed specialty healthcare private equity practice. "With our extensive experience and dedica- tion to the healthcare sector, Eric, Chris and Dan will add tremen- dous value not only to our clients, but also to the entire healthcare community," says Tom Paprocki, Ziegler CEO. "I am excited to see them continue their investment success here at Ziegler." Smith brings 20 years of experi- ence in originating, underwriting and managing principal invest- ments in long-term care, seniors housing and healthcare services. He has served as a partner in the formation and management of seven healthcare investment funds. Prior to joining Ziegler, Smith served as a partner of Contem- porary Healthcare Capital LLC, which he co-founded in 2006. Claps has over 14 years of fnance experience, including eight years originating, underwriting and managing principal invest- ments in long-term care, seniors housing and healthcare services. Prior to joining Ziegler, he was as a senior vice president at Contemporary Healthcare Capital LLC, where he served as a port- folio manager for fve healthcare investment funds.
