Myers with plans to build seniors living community Fort Myers, Fla. — Recognizing a need for more assisted living care in southwest Florida, Omega Communities LLC has purchased 8.93 acres of land at Six Mile Cypress Parkway just south of Daniels Parkway in Fort Myers for $2.05 million. Omega plans to develop a seniors living community on the parcel. Omega Communities develops new senior living communities throughout the Southeast. It is focused on the development of new facilities and the acquisition of existing facilities that pres- ent unique initial and long-term value. Omega's current list of selected opportunities includes over $1 billion in possible projects. "As baby boomers in South- west Florida continue to grow older, there is a growing need for elderly assisted living care," says Karen Johnson-Crowther, direc- tor of retail services for Colliers International Southwest Florida. "A number of developers have recognized this need and are looking to fnd their niche in the Southwest Florida market." To better ft market demand, DRLP Ltd. had the land rezoned for multifamily use. Previously, the land was zoned for retail use. Johnson-Crowther and Dan- nielle Crowther Robinson of Colliers International Southwest Florida represented the seller. Conni Dean of Venture Realty and Investments represented the buyer. Roger B. Kennedy breaks ground on $10.8 million Heritage Village Commons near Orlando Longwood, Fla. — Orlando- based Roger B. Kennedy Inc. has broken ground for the new $10.8 million, 123-unit Heritage Village Commons seniors housing. The facility is near the same company's newly started $18.5 million Weston Park at Long- wood Station apartments across from Longwood's SunRail station. Developed by Heritage Vil- lage Commons Developer Inc. of Altamonte Springs, Fla., and designed by Associated Consult- ing International (ACi) of Winter Park, Fla., the four-story project is located at 247 Orange Ave. and is slated for completion in Janu- ary 2016.
