Atria opens 155-unit community in Bay Area Foster City, Calif. — Atria Senior Living has opened Atria at Foster Square, a 155-unit independent liv- ing, assisted living and memory care community in Foster City, lo- cated between San Francisco and San Jose. The six-story building totals 190,000 square feet. Atria is seek- ing LEED Silver certification for the community. The property is part of a larger multi-building de- velopment that includes additional housing and retail space aimed at seniors. Architecture firm Perkins East- man designed the property, which San Francisco-based Webcor Build- ers constructed. Based in Louisville, Ky., Atria Senior Living is the eighth largest operator of seniors housing prop- erties in the United States, accord- ing to 2016 data compiled by the American Seniors Housing As- sociation. The company totals 196 communities in 27 states and seven Canadian provinces, serving more than 21,000 residents. Spectrum Retirement debuts new community, memory care expansion near Columbus, Ohio Powell and Hilliard, Ohio — Spec- trum Retirement, a Denver-based developer, has opened a new ground-up development and ex- panded existing facilities inmetro Columbus. Powell Senior Living in Powell offers 126 independent living units in a 131,000-square-foot property in Powell. The pet-friendly com- munity features floor plans ranging from 400 to 1,224 square feet. In Hilliard, Spectrum added a memory care program called The Residence Club to its existing com- munity, Hilliard Assisted Living and Memory Care. Spectrum has two additional com- munities currently under construc- tion in the Columbus-area towns of Gahanna and Pickerington, both scheduled to open later this year. Kisco underway on $22.5 million expansion of Emerald Court in Anaheim Anaheim, Calif. — Kisco Senior Living has started the $22.5 million expansion and renovation of Emer- ald Court, a 194-unit independent living and assisted living commu- nity in Anaheim. The project was originally an- nounced in March 2016, but the company added more plans and committed more money. The project is currently under- way, with a scheduled completion for this fall. Plans call for a two-story addi- tion brings 58 new assisted living units to the property, as well as a demonstration kitchen, dining ven- ue and wellness center. Kisco will also renovate the existing dining room, corridors, lighting, activity room and salon. The project will add a total of 58,000 square feet to the property. Emerald Court's assisted living units are currently full with a wait- ing list. The expansion will more than double the number of assisted living units.
